    Question about restoring factory defaults that game with my PC.


    I'm trying to restore to factory default settings that came with my PC from 2011, just to start from scratch again without reformating. Anyways when I choose the date to revert all my settings back it tells me "There is not enough free disk space. The recovery process has failed". I don't completely how I could not have enough space? I have a 2 terabyte system and I have 66% free space available. Why do I need free space to restore my system to begin with if It's just going to end up wiping it all after the process is complete? Anyways I hope I explained it well, I still honestly don't fully understand it myself. Thanks for your time.

    I've never tried to restore to factory defaults as I build my own PCs, but I'm a bit confused by your wording.

    You say you want to restore to "factory defaults".

    Then you say you are asked to choose a date.

    Offhand, I wouldn't think a restore to "factory defaults" would give you any choice about dates. It would be to a fixed point in time as of when the PC was built and you would have no say at all about "when". There's only ONE "factory default" state--not two to choose from. So I'm unclear about choosing a date.

    I assume you are trying to restore via a partition placed on the PC by Dell, that is accessed from a menu.

    Am I wrong about that? Walk us through the steps in your method.

    What are the choices from which you must choose---what is the wording on those choices? Specific dates, like August 22, 2011 or October 4, 2011?
