Macrium has had several program updates recently to fix issues.
Are you using the latest version (v6.1.936) on all your OS's ?

To me it sounds like running Macrium in Win-8.1 is ok, the problem is only when running Macrium in Win-7.

If i had this problem i would run a backup booting from a MR Rescue Media so Windows is not booted.
MR Rescue Media could be a bootable CD, bootable USB flash drive, or bootable bios menu option.

Unfortunately us users of Macrium FREE can not post on the Macrium forum and ask for help.
I don't have a problem with that, if that's how their business model works to be able to offer a free version, that's cool.

If no one else here knows an answer to your issue, you might have to wait to see if a PAID MR user that has the same problem and gets an answer.
