need help restoring image to larger drive - unbootable

i have a dual-boot 250gb ssd system drive and have been trying, unsuccessfully, to move it to a 500gb ssd. my hope is to add space to both os partitions. the first is non-windows, the second is w7/64 pro. drive is gpt with efi partition.

i've successfully cloned the drive with it's partitions copying to the new drive in the exact geometry as the original and leaving lots of space following. the failure occurrs when i try to move and resize the partitions. obviously, to make room for more space on the first, non-windows, partition i have to move the windows partition farther down the drive to open space before it. as soon as i do this, windows becomes unbootable and i haven't found a clear solution to overcome it. it appears that changing the start location of the partition is what is causing the issue but i haven't been able to figure out what to edit or how in order to fix it. is this even possible now?

any info, guides, etc are much appreciated. i've used linux-based tools so far and, for the cloning, they worked fine (clonezilla, systemrescuecd, ntfsclone, dd, gparted, fdisk, etc). it breaks down in getting things set up the way i want to take advantage of the new space (moving the windows partition).

i should add that i have tried running repair from the original installation dvd and that hasn't helped. it couldn't even find the os. tried bootrec in various ways too. no luck. there must be something that can be edited to make this work - right?

:banghead: I have a 320GB image/backup drive giving me 'low free space', and want to replace it with a 500GB drive. I thought I could just copy/paste the files into the 500GB drive but they are not there (o byte files). Tried researching for hours but all I could find was info on how to install...

System Image much larger than C: drive contents
I have been doing a nightly windows backup w/system image for years. Even used it successfully to recover after a disk crash last year. The system image has slowly grown as my stuff has grown which makes sense. I am using a total of 170G on the C:drive now(out of a total of 1TB). I believe...

System image larger than new drive?
Hello, I am in the process of upgrading to an SSD. My original HDD showed about 165GB, but the best I can tell in the Windows 7 backup image there was a file that is 289GB. I only bought a 250GB SSD, so I did not attempt to use the image for the new drive. My questions Is it normal...

Installing win 7 image to a larger 3TB drive
Alright, I did a backup image in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit from a 500GB drive. I then took that out and put in a new Barracuda 3TB sata3 drive. After it was done restoring the image I extended the volume and of course it only gave me 2TB of space. So after reading a bit I needed to use Seagates...

Restoring system image to larger hard drive
When I replaced my hard drive to go from 160 GB to 500 GB, I restored a system image in Windows 7 from an external drive. Now the new drive works great, but windows still reports it as having approx 160 GB. In the BIOS setup it recognizes it as 500 GB. It there a way to have Windows recognize the...
