Can't find OEM files for Win 7 clean reinstall

    Hello everyone,

A few years ago I got a Toshiba Satellite Pro with Seven Pro preinstalled on it. The computer was downgraded to Windows XP and the OS was never touched since then.
Now I need to use this laptop and upgrade it to Seven. The computer is supposed to integrate HDD Recovery function however I can't find it anywhere on the Boot Menu and Setup.
    • Microsoft won't let me download win 7 from the official store with my legit serial
    • I can't find links on the web providing secure isos or oem files
    • Toshiba does not provide copies of recovery disks anymore

To sum it up, I have an excellent laptop but it's stuck on win XP and neither Toshiba nor Microsoft is able to give me a copy of the system.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
No problem it is Pro I just forgot to add that to the link
    Cheers.

By the way you'll need to follow this for the least amount of pain updating win-7
Sticking with Windows 7? The forecast calls for pain | ZDNet
Before you start download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance, and store them on a flash drive
Start and complete the install without an internet connection
    Immediately after install is complete
    Manually install KB3083710 and restart.
    Manually install KB3102810 and restart.
Change your windows update settings I used Check for updates but let me decide when to download and install
Unchecked Give me recommended updates the same....

Restore the Internet connection and Activate windows
    Then launch Windows Update search
After about 5-10 minutes you should have plenty of updates to download and install.

Another thing is if you see this update make sure it is not installed with any other updates
It needs to be installed all by it's self
It was not uncheck automatically which caused many others to fail to install

I would also install manually net framework 4.6.1 well after doing the above,

    And the newest update client

Once you get the iso downloaded use Option 2 here to create the installation media

Thanks for the advice. Indeed +200 updates is a lot to deal with I hope the process won't take 24h to complete.

I'll get back to you once it's done and system works!

    Hi,
If your windows update settings are correctly set the Important updates should be about 159
Of course there are a lot of Optional/ Recommended updates
You should not load them yet though

Unless you want issues installing them that is :)
    Load only Important updates first
Then select possible graphic's driver.... stuff you need later
If you want to avoid win-10 stuff exclude these from ever installing

Actually I was planning on upgrading to Win-10 but I prefer going step-by-step and checking the stability of seven first.
I keep the references close for the ones I don't need right away.
About graphics (manufacturer is AMD), would you recommend to install amd's drivers or toshiba's?
