Is it possible/necessary to login from recovery CD?

Is it possible to log in as a local administrator from the recovery CD?

I used to be able to log in from the Recovery Environment via the Advanced Boot Options screen, but I can't figure out how to do this from the CD.

I've tried using RunAs from my install's system32 directory, but it complains about a service not being installed.

If that doesn't seem possible, is it necessary to log in as administrator to run utilities to attempt to repair the boot process?

If you are attempting attempting a repair from a "System Repair" disc to repair a boot issue then there are few alternatives:
    1) Attempt a Startup repair using that option when you boot the system repair CD. You may need to run this up to 3 times booting between each attempt.
    2) Use the Bootrec command

    3) Use the Bootsect command

Starting the operating system is the last stage of the boot process and only then can you attempt to login.
