    Stuck on Windows Update again

Again today my fan starts blowing like a hairdyer, and I knew what it was. Updates.

Strange because I decided to turn off auto-update altogether so as to avoid this, but it still happened.

Several hours later 16 important updates, and the only one ticked was Windows 10 even though I have been trying to get it to stop harassing me all the time.

IF I decide to upgrade it'll be at the last minute, when I decide to.

Anyway, I've spent a day trying to get these updates to updates but they keep hanging and failing and I have work I need to do!

    Hi
    You might review this

Sounds like 10 is scheduled already
If it shows as a update right click and hide the win-10 update.

It isn't scheduled. I unscheduled it. I just keeps coming back. I'm going to take out a restraining order on it. Trying the fix it thing to see if that fixes it, it worked before.

I don't want any updates, even if they are important. I don't want to have to deal with this crap any more!

Is there a way to just turn updates off? I don't want anymore. I'll take my chances. I don't want to have to mess about fixing computers every time I need to update something! I HAVE WORK TO DO!!!!!!

What happened to this great operating system called Windows 7 that came with this machine?

    WHAT HAPPENED TO IT!!!!!

I had it turned off, but the way I know I have updates pending is this fan problem. It still did it!

Facebook Backgammon makes my fan go whizz. So do other things. I know when my fan is whizzing when it shouldn't be, and guess what I was right about the updates. It turned out...

Anyway, I finally managed to get 15 updates to update succesfully, after a day of aargh, so I'm going to restart now and hope that it doesn't goes belly up during that stage.

3 decades of computing and still progress bars don't work, at all anymore apparently. The whole point of a progress bar is....?

The progress is... pick any random number between 1 and 100, and then pick another one.... or if you like, become a cyborg with semi-psychic abilities

There were 17 updates yesterday because it was update Tuesday, the only day of the week you should get multiple updates, but no way should it make your cpu fan go crazy.

But the reason for the loud fan is you`re using a laptop.

Ya I just love windows 7 progress bar, it`s useless sometimes.

But it does work properly on other things, like when you Create a disk image.

Yes I agree, it shouldn't bugger my fan up. But it does.

Someone explained this in another thread why, it's a common problem apparently.

I'm getting sick of fan problems. I had this for years with my mac.
