    windows 7 32bit to 64 bit


    hi all i am going to up date windows to 64bit form 32bit i know it will need a complete new install but what i like to know is can you use windows easy transfer to move files from windows 32bit to windows 64bit ? i know sum of them mite not work like the system files but will most them be move over ? :) or can you just install the 64bit over the top of the 32bit ? and keep every thing i read you can not but sum one mite have a work a round by now ? :)

    Hi,
    I'd avoid easy transfer and just do it the old fashion way it's more straight forward.
    Plus you can save the files as backups.

    You can use easy transfer to transfer data files and settings but you won't be able to move programs with it.

    You will need to do a clean install of Win 7 in order to move from 32 to 64 bit and will need to reinstall all of your programs. Data can be backed up via an external drive using a backup program or simply copy and paste. You can use easy transfer to transfer files to another computer via network or easy transfer cable or by using an external drive.
