What copying NOT imaging prog to interval backup my data ?
Hi,
I was running raid 1 for 3 yrs on my internal HDDs data drives, (two pairs, and a SSD for C drive) (C drive is Acronis backed up by the way) as a safety net for if a HDD failed, the raided one had the exact same files and folders on it. A recent memory stick failure knocked it all out of sync, 1 week copying files off, then format all HDDs, then resynch, and it put up a fight, got new raid card, was sick from birth, so two lots of copying onto PC, 1 month of hell, so I ditched the raid !
I have paired HDDs, same make size etc as a result of the raid, same size partitions on both, one has two partitions each 1.5Tb, another pair are four partitions, 3 of which are 580Gb. All formatted and functional in the good old basic PC way now !
Now to use a software to write to the 'backup' partition for each of my 6 partitions, every so often, just as raid did, but obviously not every millisecond !
Backup can mean an image, all files scrunched into one and the prog that did it is required to view the contents. I DONT WANT THAT. Should that prog and company fold, I am stuffed, happened to me twice.
I want it as if it was copy paste !
I need a prog to append/incremental (call it what you will) files and folders from my 6 partitions across to the other six partitions every 15mins or 30mins, whatever the shortest intervals are. And not interfere with the performance of my PC.
If I delete a file I want it to delete that file on the recipient drive, so both drives data matches. Likewise if I update a file, it must update the same file on the recipient drive. So e.g. D drive has O drive as its backup, and both contents match.
I dont want compression, this is not a backup image, its cloning the files and folders. I should be able to remove the recipient HDD and view the contents on another PC that doesnt have the copying software installed.
WHAT PROGS WILL DO THIS PLEASE ?
I am win7 64bit pro, Windows inbuilt software for this is too large an increment, 1 day, 1 week 1 month. damn shame that.
