    backup and restore service stopped?

I following a seminar on A+ certification. I checked my system to see backup and restore options but the window was blank. I checked services and Windows backup was disabled. I set it to Automatic and started the service. Now I can see backup/restore.

Is there a reason it was disabled? Virus (did a full scan last week), uninstalling a piece of software, etc?

My Windows backup service is set to manual.
I've read that uninstalling Acronis can cause this problem.

I did have Macrium Reflect installed. Could this have caused the same issue?
I changed the service to manual, like above. Not sure what the default is.

You can use this tutorial by Brink to check and change all Default Services.

I'm not sure since I've never uninstalled Macrium (I wouldn't be without it). I did have Paragon installed a very long time ago and uninstalling it did not cause any problems. I think the the problem with Acronis was with older versions that fiddled with the control panel links.

I'd leave the backup service set to automatic or manual and see how you go. Not much help unfortunately.
Layback's suggestion looks like a good one.
