    Startup Repair Headaches

I put my HP Probook 6460b with Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) to Sleep yesterday night before going to bed. I switched it back on earlier today and while the system was loading, it automatically went into Startup Repair and it has been attempting System Repairs for the past 2 hours and nothing tangible has happened yet. I don't understand what is happening. Kindly help me.

Hello and welcome jydobrooks now can you get into safe mode - power up tap F8 as you do that??

If so the system will load only the basic Windows files so not involve your programs as such.

Now also if you can please run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 > in safe mode if need be

SFC usually best run for three scans
