If I remember scuttlebutt elsewhere, System Volume Information also stores SRPs/System Restore Points. If that is true, and those files are SRPs, almost all but the last 2-3 probably can be safely deleted. Somebody correct me if I misunderstood, thanks.

Addendum: I now realized my answer was incomplete -- I should have posted that the only safe way to delete SRPs is through...what tetraps posted. Follow tetraps advice, you won't go wrong.

Yes, System Volume Information typically grows as the OS saves more restore points.

In order to delete restore points just follow the instructions linked below from this forum, bearing in mind whether you want to keep a few recent restore points (by reducing the percentage of disk space system restore uses) or just delete them all outright. You may want to reduce the % space used anyway to prevent future buildup, and AFAIK when do that Windows will delete the older restore points anyway.

I think it's ok to delete restore points as per the tutorial link if you want.
I'd personally feel uneasy fiddling directly with system volume information. I'll listen for other comments.
