My System Restore points disappear every time I reboot!

My System Restore points disappear every time I reboot.

I have checked in Reg Edit ran as administrator and navagated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ SystemRestore. All that appears in the right hand window is Name: Default Type: REG-SZ Value: (Data not set)

I can create a system restore point okay and it stays there until I reboot and then it is deleted. What's happening here and how can I fix it?

Hello Gozoman now I am running Pro here and following that regedit path cannot find any settings/entries for System Restore. I even tried CURRENT_USER nothing at all in there

I am assuming you have run a sfc and chkdsk/r ??

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes I have ran sfc several times actually as well as chkdsk and it has made no difference. I'm beginning to think something has infected my system and is deleting the restore points. To that end I have also run Superantispyware and Malwarebytes but to no avail.

    Hi Gozoman,
are you using any 3rd party tune up type utilities:- even some AV's if you use thier cloud options.
They sometimes remove restore points at shutdown.

Lookin back at your earlier posts i caught a mention of Macrium,
if you still use it does it back-up successfully if not what error is it reporting.

No 3rd party tune up stuff that I'm aware of no and I don't use anything associated with the 'cloud.' I can't understand why any program other than a virus of some type would want to delete your restore points.

I only used Macrium the once to do a complete image of my C drive in case of future problems. It failed to work up to three times, always stopping at around 96% complete, but then I did a chkdsk C: /r/f and when I ran it again it completed okay.

Yes Gozoman the specs please and just what AV are you using and just as a start it might be worth disabling it. If doing that does make any difference you might like to install a different one, because there are AV's out there that will interfere with other stuff and some that I think are absolute rubbish.

I used Specy for the specs. Hope this is okay. Can't get that snip thing to work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong so I did a printscreen instead.
Mate please delete ASAP some of what I think is your activation code in that text document
