    Restore entire registry via reg file


    Hi all,

    I was making some changes on my system registry (to trick some installers into installing into a different directory) and before I did that I backed up the whole registry into a file.

    Little did I know is that its kind of useless because it seems impossible to restore the entire registry. When I try and import the reg file I get errors due to files being in use etc.

    So the question is, is there anyway for me to restore the registry from the reg file I have created? Are there any live CD's I can boot into then successfully restore it? or any applications that will schedule it during boot up?

    The registry backups I've been making with tweaking.com's Registry Backup have always been restorable. Maybe give tweaking.com's Registry Backup a try? As a test, I have RB make a backup copy at every boot/load up - so far so good. One thing I have learned from experience: restoring a registry does not fix all types of problems, only fixes some problems.

    Once restored, follow this tutorial its LONG read post 22 first.

    now youll be able to send them to a different locations.
