Recovery partition damaged - how to fix it?

Trying to fix a chkdsk 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 error I have used the System Recovery CD that I created a while ago. During startup I get the below error message. Drive D: is in fact the recovery partition (which has normally no drive letter, e.g. in Disk Management).

Is there a way to recover this recovery partition? Or create a fresh one? After all, the normal Windows installation works fine.

Welcome to the forum. It depends if the file system is just corrupted in that case chkdsk will fix it, or if the disk is getting bad blocks. Run check disk see what it reports

I would suggest that you try to make a set of recovery DVDs. There may be an option for that in Windows. In that way, if you need to do a factory reset, you will at least have that method available for doing the reset.
