Disable Windows creating a restore point.

    Good afternoon,

Is there a way I can disable creating a restore point please?
The reason for this is to speed up a clean install prior to imaging.
What I do first is to clean install the OS, then run all the updates, make changes to the system so it is how I want it, then install programs that I use and know to be safe. Once that is all done and everything is how I want it I take a system image.
I know that the Windows updates is the main trigger for creating a restore point.
I would have already disabled automatically create system restore point at startup & daily from Task Scheduler in making changes to the system so it is how I want it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Paul, :)

You could use the method in the tutorial below to completely disable System Restore.

EDIT: Looks like we're thinking alike.

Wow, that was quick, thank you both for the replies.

One question please, is the method you posted better than what I have just found here please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Glad we could help.

They both essentially do the same, but one disables while the other only turns off.
