System recovery catch 22
I could not recover from a previous problem so I did a clean install and am trying to restore from a backup image. After booting to the Windows Seven disk and after getting to the part where you select the image I get an error about using BIOS when the image is EFI (not sure of the exact message as I am further in my attempt to recover). So I go into setup and change from BIOS to UEFI, but now when I boot to the Windows Seven disk and select repair I am told that "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows.". I had this problem before and remember not being able to find a compatible recovery disc. Unfortunately, I also do not remember the solution I eventually found and do not feel like banging my head against this problem again, which is why I am here. This is for the HP desktop in my profile. Let me know if you need any other information.
TLDR: Recovery image says change BIOS to UEFI. After changing to UEFI Recovery says not compatible.
