    Macrium 5.1 for Win 7 AND Win 10?


    Hi,

    I have two PCs, one runs Win7 the other runs Win10. I installed Macrium Reflect free version 5.1 on the one that runs Win5.1 and to back up my data I make disk images periodically which I save to external drive. For the Win 10 PC I copy all my data in bulk to external drive periodically.

    I want to simply my backup routine and have the same software on each PC. What I would like to know is, can I install and run Macrium 5.1 on my Win10 machine ie is it compatible with Win 10? That would save the faff of making another WE portable CD etc and I'm familiar with the interface.

    Or would I need to install Macrium 7 on the Win 10 PC and create a new portable CD?

    And if I install Macrium 7 on my Win10 machine, can I also install and run Macrium 10 on my Win7 machine?

    I tend to back up both PCs onto the same external drive for convenience and would like to just use the same version of Macrium for both PCs, but I don't know if that's possible.

    Incidentally I did run the Win7 upgrade to Win10 but rolled it back as some of my Win7 PC software didn't run correctly. So I might at a future point want to roll it forward again then both PCs will be Win 10.

    I used to have a paid version of Macrium 5.1 and then a 6 version. I don't recall if I had the 5 version when I first got Windows 10. However, I'm now using the free version 7 Macrium and as far as the interface it looks the same. Downloading and using the free V7 is the best option for both. That keeps the same, and current, version. Creating a new Macrium bootable rescue media is best option. I have a bootable USB flash drive. If both PC's can boot from a flash drive that is the best option. If not a bootable CD should be made.
