Macrium Reflect: Add differentials to existing full image?

I'm experimenting with different methods of imaging my 240GB SSD system drive.

I've just now created a new, full image of my C:\ drive.

How to add a daily differential image to that full image?

I don't believe that is possible.
If you mount the image & you can copy from it, but you cannot add to it!
You can add the differential to the Backup Set.

    Thanks for the comment.

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of flexibility in Macrium for custom images.

Another thing I tried to do was to make a differential set that started with a full backup (and a new full every month) plus a differential every day.

But I couldn't seem to find the right configuration :-(

Thanks, but no. I'd already studied that page before deciding to use Macrium.

    OK, no problem!

Hopefully another member will post with a more technical answer.

When you deploy the backup the full backup is restored before the differential, if this is not the case for you what macrium version are you using?

Add differential to existing full backup

You may have sorted it by now, but here's how I did it (using Free Edition v 7.2.3906). Open program, click on Backup Defintion Files tab, select filename of Full Backup for which you want a Differential Backup, Open context menu (usually right mouse/right tracker button), select "Edit", Hit "Next" button, Select existing Full Backup in section 2, Hit "Add schedule" button (botton left of 2. "Add/Edit schedules"), Select "Differential" from drop down list, complete options form, and you should be OK from there. Good luck.

Axeo, sorry, didn't see your post 'til today. Version is 7.1.96 and I've never deployed a backup. I just want to create one full backup, then have periodic 'add-on' backups - daily, maybe -that just log any changes made to the target file since the last 'add-on'. I'm not sure if the 'add-ons' would be differentials or incrementals but that's what I want to do.

This seems pretty basic to me, and I would have thought that most averagely-pc-savvy folk would be happy with such a system. I think Reflect is missing the boat by not explaining in simple terms how to do this.

I'll belabor the point and explain again what I want:
    1) I'd create a full backup of say, C drive. Bingo, finished, case closed.
    2) Then, sometime after that - an hour, a day, a week, whatever: I open Reflect and easily find the simple menu that says, 'Tick this box to create a daily 'add-on' to that full backup situated at...'. Bingo, finished, case closed.

don'tknowmuch: Hey, thanks for that, I'll check out your method.
