Windows Create System Image wont start - not enough space

HI All
Confused (again)

I'm trying to make an image of my C drive.
The volume is 175GB with 31.5 GB free

Windows image wants to include a G drive of 100MB with 65.5 MB free

The USB backup drive has 1TB+ free

I get a message saying
'Not enough space to create the volume shadow copy' plus a whole lot of words which seem to say
Minimum free space requirement
Vol < 500MB need at least 50Mb. I have 65MB on G drive
Vol > 500MB need at least 320MB
Vol > 1GB recommend > 1GB free space I have 31GB on C drive

My spare space is way bigger than these minimums. So how do I fix this?

What are you using for the image windows version has always been a problem use a free clone software to do an image. Windows creates a copy of files in use in order to take a snapshot and it doesn't have enough space on the source drive to do that

There are two imaging programs which are very popular among members here, the first is AOMEI Backupper Standard [FREE], and the second is Macrium Reflect [FREE]. Have you tried either of those?

I hope this helps!

The G drive is the so-called "restore" partition from the manufacturer. Just ignore it, and don't bother including it in your image. And I highly recommend Macrium Reflect.

Problem arose because there was insufficient space on a drive not being imaged!

Rincewindwiz:
I think the link below will explain and solve your problem.

"Create A System Image” (from Start>All Programs>Maintenance>Backup and Restore), The Backup Fails, with the error “There is not enough space to create the volume showdown copy on the storage location….(0x807801119).

It turns out a lot of people have this problem. After a lot of research I found an EXCELLENT article explaining the two most common reasons for the error message and a Tutorial to fix either one of them. Its easy too.

The Link is: Fix the 0x80780119 error when creating a System Image in Windows 7 and 8 - TechRepublic.
