Can't mount vhdx file from Windows Backup Image - Parameter is incorre

I'm trying to access the files of a windows backup image - a vhdx file to recover some files.

This backup image - 300gb, on an external hd was made on a windows 7 and is 4 years old.

I'm running windows 7 now and when I try to mount the vhdx file from the backup using ofsmount, I get "...Drive is inaccessible. Parameter is incorrect."

When I try to attach the vhdx file from disk management, the vhdx file is not recognized for me to select.

I tried to extract the files using 7zip and it gets stuck about 40% through with a message saying, "Error: Data recovery ended suddenly.

NOTE: The image, 350gb is bigger than the laptop hd I'm using which is only 250gb, but I have an external 2 tb hd.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello fatbottoms,

Here is instruction tutorial on Virtual Hard Disk - Create and Attach VHD

Drive is inaccessible. Parameter is incorrect
This usually mean that the OS has found bad sectors on the HDD. From an open cmd prompt window, run chkdsk [Drive] /r to repair any bad sectors on the HDD

Yes, running easeus found bad sectors, but it ran for days no where near completion so long I discontinued it. I will try the check disk. Thanks.
