System Image on USB Drive
I want to create a system image, but the built-in restore program only offers the option of saving to a hard drive or a disc. USB drive isn't an option. So how can I save the image to a USB drive ?

Yes, Microsoft's built-in System Image Backup is very limited in what it can do. It also tends to be one of the least reliable and most temperamental system imaging solutions around. So much so that it is has been a deprecated feature for the past four years and Microsoft themselves recommend that you use something (anything) else.

The 'other vendor' that I prefer is Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition and yes, it can back up to a USB.
Agree Microsoft backup not very good. System Restore is about as reliable, works great until you really need it!
I've been using AOMEI Backupper Standard for years, same basic function as those Bree described. Maybe a little easier to navigate. My opinion
Chinese company if you're OK with that!
Yes, I've seen others recommend Aomei Backupper before. I've seen EaseUS Todo Free recommended too, another one from China. Macrium is from the UK.
Macrium Reflect and those two seem to be the most often recommended alternatives.
