Boot it up on the xp machine and find out if it loads.I have a rescue disk done for my Windows 10 PC (64 bit).
So, will this rescue dist be able to start the restore process if the xp laptop HD dies?

Ok. I will try to use it when the laptop will stop working.
Thank you for your answers.
Does the XP laptop have a 64 bit processor, even if it only has a 32 bit OS installed? If so the 64 bit Macrium rescue disk will be fine. There's no requirement that the Macrium recovery media has to be the same bits as the OS in the image you are restoring. 32 bit can restore a 64 bit OS image, and vice versa.
By the way, did you realise that you can also boot from the Macrium rescue disk and make a system image. It's got a full version of Reflect on it, it's not just for doing a restore.
