I have 6 GB of RAM. I work with music production so I need as much as possible available. Plus, personally I don't like unneeded stuff running on my PC. I agree with you both but it's my "caprice". :)
I seriously doubt your micromanaging is going to make any difference but, if it still worries you, you would be much better off just getting more RAM.
Thank you for all the comments, it seems I'm doing things right. :)
There's a thing though - since I used Reflect I have WmiPrvSE.exe running in the background all the time. I never had that before. I googled it and it says it's a process that's used in the enterprise environment - but I am a home user. What's that about? Can I disable it?
Yeah it is a process for monitoring programs, as Peter said. Do you have a CPU or Temp gadget running?
No, I don't. I from time to time use a monitorung utility, but not all the time. And when I did use it before I haven't noticed that provessor running when I was done with hardware monitoring.
I know it's benign but I wonder why is it there if it wasn't there before. What's causing it?
1. Don't worry about such very minor things, as has been stated a few times, it won't "hurt" anything at all.
2. Don't disable anything but set the startup option to Manual, that way an application will start it if need and will stop when finished.

...I keep a "back catalogue" of old installers for this sort of situation (i.e. new versions losing features, programs swapping from free to paid, etc.).
Excellent advice! But then, I'm prejudiced because I do the same thing.

Thank you, your Ladyship.
Some companies also screw up their "improved" versions.
I think some programs may have too many features for their developers to keep track of.
Anecdotally, VLC regularly releases "improved" versions that are broken.

I am new to a lot of this so please pardon my lack of knowledge.
I have been saving system images with whatever program is included in my Windows 7 system.
I have just downloaded (but not yet installed) Macrium Reflect FREE version 6.2.1549(08-Sep-2016)
I found out about Macrium here, but...
After talking to some 'friends' about which to use, I chose macrium to help me backup windows 7. For the compression and I heard it's able to backup even if windows is totally screwed up.
So I want EXACTLY what's on my drive and it came out weird.
The system reserve is 100 MB, I've used 35MB....
Hi,
I have just upgraded my system and am now using a single Windows 7 install on a Samsung SSD hard drive. This was installed and running under AHCI rather than IDE which I was previously used to. This is for the performance benefits of Sata/SSD from what I can understand.
I know that I...
I have a Macrium boot disc (CD) and an Image (External HD). Is the Boot disc only for this particular image ?
Same question with Windows 7 Repair Disc I made long ago. Is it tied to one particular system image ?
Hi guys,
