The free version does not support incrementals. It does however now support differentials.

This knowledgebase article explains how the different type work. Differential and incremental disk images - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

    a bit puzzled

Just been looking at the suggestions and advice on backups.
I assume you have to create an individual rescue disc for each PC, be it a desktop or laptop?
The 'official' 'how to' tutorial for Macrium v6 is pretty extensive - even though described as 'simple' and straightforward. Is there a more manageable newbies idiot's guide version that will enable a backup of a newly installed OS to be made, leaving a more detailed study of the full tutorial until later?

This is a more up to date tutorial. Imaging with free Macrium. It is for V5 but the GUI and facilities are much the same.

It may not be necessary to create a separate rescue disk for each PC. It just depends on the drivers but it doesn't take much effort to do. You should always test that your rescue disk can boot and see your backups.

David, I have multiple OS's and use Paragon Migrate. It works perfect. When you start it will show every OS you have installed and just ask which one you want to transfer. See this if you care to watch.

Me too...it was so easy to Migrate to SSD with this program.

I don't think so. I still use the latest V5 on my current PC along with 2 others and use the same V5 rescue disc/USB. A recent build has Macrium V6 and I use a V6 pe5 rescue disc for it.

I foget how it goes...I think the V6 rescue disk is ok for V5 images but not the other way around???

I haven't been able to successfully re-image a Linux partition since v6 was released (they always fail to boot).
I know I was able to restore Linux partitions using v5.

Luckily it only takes 10 minutes to completely reinstall Linux Mint (using the DVD).

If you still have a V5 recovery CD could you boot with that whenever you want to backup or restore Linux ?

I haven't tried it yet, but I still have the ISOs.

I was just wondering if other people can still do it.
