Pe disc has wider hardware compatibility and you can load drivers.
You can also access the command prompt.
Buried somewhere in this thread is a little app that will make a winpe 3 disc for you - including macrium . WAIK not needed.
There are both 32 and 64 bit versions of the app.
Kado will probably know where it is.
From my point of view it gives you the capability that Macrium use to create it's pe disk now and for future releases. If you want a shortcut then I don't think you can complain about the Macrium pe recovery environment if things go wrong.
For many (not all!) I don't think a 1.7GB download is a big deal.
More generally you can customize Windows pe environments if you are into that sort of thing. It's also used for the professional deployment of Windows systems.

64bit version is here:

Much better than the simple pe disc macrium makes with WAIK.

The instructions are pretty simple.
To make a Macrium pe3 disc on 7 x64 - you don't need WAIK .
Just d/l the small app. https://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...e-31x64-v2.zip
Ther is 7-zip file inside
Un 7-zip it onto your windows 7 drive ( e.g. C: ).
You will see an exe called RunMeAsAdminV2.exe.
Rt click it and run as admin.
Yes. It's adequate.
However, the one made by that little app. also includes MS system recovery options - and several other useful applications - as well as the ability to load drivers.
Macrium can't include include those in the pe it makes.
It also has the enormous advantage that you don't need to download WAIK.
If you install a new version of macrium - just run the app. again to include the new version.
Hi SIW2,
I've been trying for a few days to make a winpe image that will allow me to run Paragon Backup & Recovery Free (which I have succeeded in doing), and I also want to add Easeus Partition Master Home Edition (Free). Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful so far in trying to get EPM installed on my image, though. I came across your post on the easus forum where you provided someone with a reg file to apply to the winpe registry, but I keep getting a "Registry access error" when I try to merge it with the system file in the mounted\windows\system32\config folder... I have tried updating the permissions but to no effect.
I now see you have a little app that will allow me to create a winpe image with some tools - so my question is will it allow me to include Easeus Partition Master 9.10 Home Edition (Free) and Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 Free on it?
thanks in advance..
I should be able to do that .. let me have a look for the 32 bit app. - a long while since I made it
thanks so much, but I have to let you know that I have win7 64bit - will the 32bit app run on it?
I assume the winpe you made is 32 bit? If you made a 64 bit winpe with WOW - you have done well.
As you have already made it - probably easiest to:
1. mount your winpe
2. load the system hive - give it the name PE_SYS
3. run as admin on the .cmd file in here.
GETHIVEACCESS.zip
You should be able to put the Easeus reg entries in then.
As an aside - how did you make your winpe? Do you have a menu of some kind to select your apps. , or do you have windows explorer in there?
