    restore points

    Hi guys

Can someone please tell me why in win 7 is there so little restore points created?
In xp i could go back months and months with about 10 different restore point options?

Why have they changed it? It is much worse!
Now by default i can only get about 3 to choose and they only go back a few days?

n xp i could go back months and months with about 10 different restore point options why isnt that the default.?

System Restore in Windows 7 creates a scheduled restore point only if no other restore points have been created in the last 7 days.

    Hello Thinktank,

I believe it was do to people complaining about how much HDD drive space that the restore points used by default. In Windows 7, you have the option to increase and decrease the amount of HDD drive space per drive letter that you wish to be used for restore points. A restore point's size will vary, but is usually around 1GB or so. The tutorial below will help show you how to increase the restore point storage size to be able to keep more restore points on the selected drives.

    Hope this helps,

    You're welcome Thinktank.

Not by default, but you can use the "Instant Restore Point" shortcut in OPTION ONE of the tutorial below and save it somewhere on your computer. Next, create a new task in Task Scheduler to run this shortcut once a month.

You may find this one useful, the download script in #2 is excellent to use to create a daily task in Task Scheduler, just create it to run with "Highest Privileges"; I use that method myself.
