Help can't do a system restore

I had a virus and also cannot remove two programs. I downloaded Revo Installer Pro and removed the programs. Also was able to get rid of virus in same mode. Now I can't get online but I'm connected to the internet. So I decided to do a system restore and I get the message

System restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system. A Volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information (0x80042302)

    Any advice is greatly appreciate

Type system restore in the help section. Then go to turn of, and then do it. Its a simple solution, but just yesterday, someone was very grateful for the advice when I gave it to him because it worked. You may want to turn off your computer before turning SR back on. Let us know.

If it does not work, I came up with this bad news,

This is my suggestion. You had a virus, at a minimum SR is screwed up. You probably will have additional problems later on. I would try these 3 in the order given.

Try to turn off SR in safe mode.
Go back to a system image restore point. If that can be done
Try a win 7 DVD reapair. That is merely doing an upgrade over your present OS.
    Finally, just re install.

Hi manu, have you tried doing a system restore in safe mode? restart your computer, spam f5 until you get a menu asking which Operating system to boot, highlight windows 7 and then press f8 go to "boot in safe mode" and then press enter, normally, if a system restore fails, for me at least, its because the anti-virus is interfering with it

Are you by any chance using Norton as your security suite?
