I've been dealing with the same issue of this thread and I've been trying a lot of different "fixes." I think for the above fix to work it must be turned ON for BOTH drives? I'm trying that next. I just tried it off (like above) and it failed for me, too.

My problem is that installing software or running Windows Update takes loads of time (6 minutes longer than usual) while the system otherwise appears to run quickly. Running Win7x64 and Security Essentials.
