Backup and Restore malfunction

Hi All,

After loading Win7Pro up a few days ago, all seems to have gone well - apart from Backup and Restore. It started a backup but never actually generated a backup file on a removable drive.

I can't remember why it crashed originally. Any attempt to use it after that gives me an error message suggesting that the last backup was unsuccessful and that I should check settings.

Attempts to check or change settings or run a backup is met with another error - 'The backup application could not start due to an internal error. Server execution failed (0x80080005)'.

I have used a registry edit (found here) to reset the registry entries so that Backup and Restore thinks it hasn't been set up yet. Attempting to set it up results in the error immediately above....

Any ideas as to how I might fix this without restore points or repair installs ?

Thanks....

(Hate to see this - 3 weeks gone by and no help. This guy might just go back to XP and I
wouldn't blame him. He might have already done so...)
