    Restoring from Paragon's backup?

I backed up a full image onto an external USB HD using Paragon's Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition. If my W 7 system refuses to boot how do I access the backup so that I can restore the system from the image? Paragon's utility does not seem to provide a mechanism to boot up with.Thanks.

I think Paragon offers creating Bootable Recovery CD/DVD or USB flash drive
    So create it.

And when your system fails you can just boot from that CD and recover your PC.

EDIT: It`s called Recovery Media Builder! :)

Paragon may be like the free edition of Macrium Reflect.

Macrium WILL NOT restore unless you use a boot disc made with the application. The Macrium staff technical writers were clever enough to not mention this in the documentation. You get to discover it on your own when you try to restore. Crafty, don't you think? Only the paid for version will restore from Windows.

Even if you could restore in Windows, you are probably better off assuming Windows will not be working when you have to restore--so use the boot disc even if you don't have to.

    Restoring from Paragon's backup?-recoverydisc-2010-01-18_235308-small-.jpg

Why not get the Compact Edition ? - it's free if you grab it now - more functions than the B&R10 Free:

Only available free till Tuesday 19th Jan 2010 [ I assume that is midnight Tuesday - it will be UK time as it a world exclusive with v3.co.uk. ] 23 hours left to get it

Paragon Backup & Recovery Compact Free registration

    Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact [32-bit]

    Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Compact [64-bit]

Paragon can flip itself into boot time mode. Better to use the boot disc, as Ig says.

I spent 2 days trying to restore a new laptop to a previous state.
The Paragon Backup Recovery 2003 Free, restore CD wasn't working.
    - I booted to the recovery CD or USB drive, but option 1 (normal mode)always took me to booting into Windows. The other options (safe mode or low-graphics safe mode) didn't have the drivers to access my external USB hard drives that had my Paragon backups.

Then I found, on Paragon BR 2013 Free: Cannot restore archive - Wilders Security Forums the comment:

"If it can't see your HD and make the image then the Linux environment is likely the problem. The paid versions of Paragon allow you to create a WinPE based recovery CD which is the Windows environment and also allows any needed drivers to be loaded."

I paid for the Paragon Suite, built a recovery USB, that worked first time and in under an hour I had my laptop fully restored.

I'm posting this, in the hope that it helps others.
I have nothing to do with Paragon, nothing to gain by people buying their software. But I wish I'd realised this was an extra paid for feature sooner. The 2 days I lost, are worth more to me than the Paragon fee for their paid for versino.
