complete system backup to dvd

    complete system backup to dvd


    a friend has win 7 installed on a 40G hdd and has a 200G external drive i want to swap the drives, is it best to backup to 5 dvd`s(est) or partion the external drive and restore from that?.
    any advice appreciated .

    I think that you may find this information interesing. There have been several posters, inaddition to myself, who were not able to use system image to back up to DVD's. In every case, the process froze on the 3rd DVD. In may case, I actually had to unplug the powwer supply (desktop) to stop the process.

    I am currently in the market for a good external HD, but cannot find one with reviews that indicate that it will last for more than a few months, but I digress.

    Bottom line, back up to the external HD.

    TY so much for the rep. I left to find the link to partition wizard. I have not used it myself, but many posters swear by it. Free software to partition your HD. Look it over if interested download and give it a try.
