eRecovery error:Hard drive configuration is not set to factory default

    hello guys,

I own an acer travelmate P643-M and have been trying to factory reset the laptop by running the e-recovery management, however, it gives me the following error when i try to use the option for factory reset: Hard drive configuration is not set to factory default. Backup aborted.

I am trying everything to solve this problem, sadly nothing works. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello and welcomed mate where did you get this machine from because it smacks of either someone has sold you a dud machine or the drive is dying.

Now you could try reading through this Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

If it is a dying drive there a few ways you can reinstall but it would need a new drive - the media can be accessed through this tutorial using the ei.cfg removal tool. It uses any DVD of Windows and as long as you install the original version the activation code can be used - stand to be corrected though.
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 Greg the author will put you on the right path.
