system restore

I can't get my system restore to work. I get this everytime I click on recovery. I don't know if it is because I've got win xp and win 7 on separate partitions or what. I've googled it. didn't come up with any resolution.

HEllo qwade29, welcome to Se7en Forums!

Have a go at this and see if it makes a difference after you "hide" 7 from XP.

Hi Quade,

Type services.msc into the start search box. Click it when it pops up.

Scroll down to Volume Shadow Copy service and make sure it is running.

When I found the service, it was on manual. So I changed it to auto. So when I did that this popped up.

Go to the Control panel and select System.
Then select System Protection.
Scroll down the list and make sure the C: drive is checked and not a C: (missing)

Instead of hiding Vista or 7 from XP or using one MS method of unmounting the Vista or 7 primary making it inaccessible I simply used the

Besides seeing a desktop shortcut you add a copy of that into the startup folder for Vista or 7. When you are about to make any large change you can also export the Vista or 7 registry using the option seen in the regedit tool. Registry - Backup and Restore - Vista Forums[11]=BackupRestore

What windows build are you using and have you used any hacks to remove the watermark or any activation cracks?

Windows build 7000. Didn't do any hacks. All I did was I don't know if this matters or not but removed the send feedback through regedit. that's it.

It may be a problem, but try running this anyway, go to the start menu and type cmd and then right click on the icon and run as administrator, once you have opened command prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter, this will start a scan of your system files and it will try to repair any corrupt ones, if it finds any restart the computer and see if you can create a restore point.

If that fails you may want to try and enable the send feedback option again and if doesn't help then you could try a Repair Install or you could just upgrade to one of the newer builds, allot of people are still saying that build 7048 has been the best so far.
