IMO, you only need your last two Restore points, anything else is not needed .

i agree. 2-3 restore points is ideal. So what would make a restore point become so bloated? I have set the space for the restore points low and they have exceeded the size allocation and become huge.

I am still not clear whether we talk about restore points or images. Restore points should be 250MB to 1GB (depending on the size of your system). Images, however, can be up to 60GB (at least that's what I have experienced with a fully loaded (Vista) system.

Well if it was my machine, I would delete them all except the last two, set it to the same as mine and keep your
eye on it for a couple of days. I don't know why it should go so high unless it was set high to begin with,
but you said you set it low.

i see two images listed in restore when i click on the show more restore points, these images appear to be invalid as i have deleted all images before and when i click on the listed images in the restore list they say they are invalid.

one more thing. could the scrp script for creating manual restore points be the issue? It should be noted that all of my points are manual.

Well then I would delete all the restore points that you have, "if you can" and when all are deleted,
I would set it to what mine was reading and make a new restore point, and start afresh.

Just a thought, have you got TuneUp utillities or some registry cleaner installed.?

I just made a restore point for my system and it was only 75mb....something is definitely
wrong if yours are 30gb....

Well I had Tuneup installed Last year and I uninstalled it, it caused a bit of grief to my registry
and I remember it used to make a lot of Back ups, a lot of them, so maybe that could be your problem,
I'm not saying it is but I would think about it.

I would uninstall both of them for a month and see if there is any difference with your system,
I don't think you will even miss them, I haven't.

System Restore isn't creating (or saving?) restore points properly
For some reason my System Restore function isn't automatically creating (or isn't showing) System Restore points as it should be doing for "major" system events (e.g., isn't automatically creating restore points before/after Windows Updates and software/driver updates). I'm not sure if it isn't...

System Restore Error, Unable to Create Restore Points

System restore doesn't show any restore points - but they exist
After Tuesday's Windows update I couldn't boot into Windows and loaded my system repair disk planning to roll back to a restore point from the day before. Allocated System Restore space holds far fewer restore points now
I have 8gb of space allocated to System Restore, all monitoring my C partition only. This space is always at least 85-90% used according to the System Protection screen. In the past I have had at least 15 restore points to choose from after ticking "show more restore points." But today I went to...

Can I Pause/Turn off System Restore WITHOUT losing restore points?
