Upgrade to RTM using a system image

    hello everyone,

as the deadline for Windows 7 RC comes closer (5-6 days i think) I am planning on upgrading to the RTM version but I have a couple questions.

    1) Can I create a system image using Windows' built in imaging tool and then use that on the RTM? If so, how would i go about restoring it?

    2) And my second question: Can I make a image of Windows 7 Ultimate RC and use it with Windows 7 Home Premium RTM?

Thanks in advance guys. I know i kinda waited until the last minute but better late than never right?.

An image backup will only reimage the exact image you took. You can't apply an image of RC to the RTM which is a completely separate install.

If you are not ready to clean install RTM yet, then use the workaround to change RC to any retail version which is reported by many to work well:

Upgrade the Windows 7 RC to any retail version Icrontic Tech

Performance will be better because the RC was beta-buggy, however it will not be as good as a clean install which should be your goal.
