Restore Public Documents folder
I deleted the \users\public\"Public Documents" folder.
How do I restore this folder? Simply creating a folder with that name does not create a folder with the correct characteristics. |

Hello Karl,
If the system restore does not help, the REG file I made below for you should restore your Public Documents folder. You can delete the one that you manually created, merge the REG file, then restart the computer (maybe a couple of times) for it to return. Public Folders - Restore Hope this helps, Shawn |

Shawn,
Many thanks. I'd already deleted the folder attempt when I noticed that the "Properties" were not the same as for the other Public folders. Karl |

You may be able to retrieve it form a restore point with Shadow Explorer. Navigate to it, then right click on the folder and Export back into your system.

Shawn,
REG file worked like a champ! Didn't even need any restarts or anything more than to just "Merge" the .reg file. Thanks, karl |

I double click on and the location now is C:\Users\User-Name\Documents , why is the folder name different from the exact folder location? (I notice all other folders that have the word "My" has the same situation) Q2.... |

Public Documents can not be shared My folder "public documents" is just to share with administrators and the owner. It is not possible to add “everyone”. If I try to add “Everyone” a window opens: The folder can not be shared. That's the problem! For all other folders in the directory “Public” it is possible to give full access... |

What happened to my user folder and documents? Changed to Public? I installed Avast AV when Norton expired. In order to activate the internet security stuff, I had to install the upgraded library file, blah, blah, blah. To do this, I had to show hidden folders. Having only recently begun my foray into Windows 7 (coming from XP), I was flying a bit blind. ... |
