A couple backup and restore questions

That does not work. The recovery program usually runs with a Linux distro off the CD. There are also Barth PE versions. But in no case can you run the recovery program in the address space to which you want to recover. As I previously said, you may want to update yourself a little more on how imaging works.

Define load? You can mount the image as a drive and retrieve anything you want from it.

But that will not give him a running "Professional" system. He will still end up with the Starter Edition. He can, of course, retrieve any file like from a folder when he mounts the image.

That was my point in asking them the question, "Define load?" It was very unclear to me what their intentions were.

Every Imaging system has their own way of performing a recovery and because of this I can only reiterate that anyone attempting this - fully read the instructions of the particular program they are using BEFORE they start to change anything.

Paragon for example in it's Pro products, and also Acronis allow the creation of a recovery partition that works in a way similar to a normal OEM recovery system, so it is possible to recover without an optical drive - but of course this has to be set-up and tested before you remove the working system
