How much space is left on each of the HD's and are they all primary partitions or are they logical parrtitions (view in disk management)

You obviously have the space on those Hd's. Are you trying to (my bad) back up to a logical drive? Im not sure that can be done, I have to check. Is there anything in event viewer that relates to this?

I goggled that error code and there were no references relevant to vista/win 7. Let me do some digging and see if anyone else knows

    good morning problem solved

so what i found was that my d drive which is my active partition and is 1.5 gig in size
only had 214 meg free because the recovery folder which i think seven makes and vista never did that i know of was holding 7 previous copys of the backup image folders from the different versions of seven i had installed and used the backup feature without any problems.
and i only found them by booting into xp and i was able to see the previous backup folders and delete them so i know have 1 gig free on that drive and back up now works again

    Good morning.

I too am/was getting the 0x80780119 error. When I first loaded Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, I ran a backup image to two separate external drives (for redundancy) with no problem. After making changes to my new installation, I wanted to back up again so, I deleted the previous image, including the folder that held the image and when I attempted to run the backup, I received the error. I then chose a third drive that had never contained a backup image and it works. Strange.
