Hi bluzeboy, I don't know why your system restore shortcut disappeared but windows always does an automatic restore point when installing updates, you can create one manually by typing create a restore point into your start menu

Sorry? Can you please explain what you mean?

If you are referring to my "type it into the start menu" comment then do this:

    Open your start menu,
In the text box at the bottom type Create a Restore Point
you will see an option come up called Create a Restore Point, click it

its pretty self explanatory from there

sorry... im not really getting what you mean... there should be no reason to insert a date and time, windows does that for you.

here are a couple of tutorials for you:
    System Restore Point - Create
Create a System Restore Point with a Desktop Shortcut
    System Restore
