Look upon this and know jealousy, boys.

Core clock at 970, memory clock at 2160.

It crashes when pushed to 975, continues to crash even when set back to the factory overclock of 900 until rebooted.

I've got Amazon on another tab, drooling over the GTX 780.

Yeah, I know it seems pointless to put such a high-end card in my present machine, but I plan on upgrading (Haswell) in the near future. Anyhow, it's my birthday on Friday, I just may splurge!

I did it...just now ordered this:

    PNY GTX 780

I'm an Amazon Prime member so I even get 2-day free shipping.

Woo Hoo! I'm stoked, my bank account...not so much.

Nice one Kent, you get much better prices in the US, on Amazon in the UK the cheapest I can find is £500 ($778)!

It's one hell of a GPU, I look forward seeing the benchmarks on it

Thanks, y'all, for the kind words and encouragement.

How about some suggestions for benchmarks to run on the 560 Ti before the swap?

I've done Unigine Heaven and Valley using the extreme preset, and 3DMark 2013 Basic (the FireStrike combined test turns into a total slideshow).

Did an SSD shuffle a couple of weeks ago (new Samsung 840 500GB for the MacBook Pro, moved the Samsung 830 256GB from the MacBook into the gamer, and moved the Samsung 830 128GB from the gamer into the HTPC), so I don't have many games installed at the moment.

Not that many benchmarks I can think of, you could try running the 3D test on Passmark, here's a link for a charts - PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmarks - High End Video Cards

You can also download it from there if you click the software tab at the top, it's performance test 8.0

Edit: The trusty old 7970 doesn't fare that well on there anymore, but with mine overclocked I score 6531:)

    Look what arrived today!

    Woo Hoo!

Guess I'll be busy for a while with the installation. Updated benchmarks soon!

Packaging and content is minimal, the only other things in the box besides the graphics card is a Maxell DVD-R with the drivers and a DVI-VGA adapter.

That is one sexy lookin card Kent! Be sure to update the drivers online the ones on the DVD will be well outdated I imagine.

This thing is gonna kill your last card! I don't know how the bottleneck will be, but run passmark again for the 3D test and see how it scores compared to the 7919 average.

Look forward to seeing your benchmarks.

    Paul.
