Yes Doug, We all get to the point where we have reached the max our card will do. After that you know what to expect. Then it isn't much fun to get the numbers you got last time. It takes all the fun out of it when you hit your max.
Totally agree with you Steve. It's not much fun when you reach the max, and it's even worse when your card degrades a little over time and you can't reach the dizzy heights you once reached. I would love to get a new card but it would be plain stupid getting one just for benchmarks. Mine runs games so well I have no reason to change it. Perhaps I should get a 4K screen then I would have an excuse lol but in reality I don't have the money for either right now.
I think 2 more screens of the type you have now would qualify as a reason another card is necessary. I'm sure that would be cheaper than a large 4K monitor. But, pushing that kind of resolution, I'm not sure you would get better numbers on benchmarks. You would have to use only 1 monitor most likely, which would sort of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

Actually I saw a nice Asus 28" 4K screen for £500 here, my screen is still very expensive Steve, it's on offer right now for £380 normally over £400 and even in the States it's like $700! So to get 2 more of them would be very costly.

The benchmarks we run default to a certain resolution like this one will be run at 1600x900 no matter what the resolution of your screen so it should not affect benchmark scores. But I don't know why I am even talking about this as I can't afford anything lol.

Has anyone tested at 1920? My 7970 went from 11xx to 9xx.

For some reason my 280x box wants to run HBv4 with Dx9 and I have Dx11 installed, need to look at that when I have time.

If you go back quite a few pages there are some 1920 runs. Does selecting custom then choosing the API dropdown show this for you?

Down and dirty 10% OC. My ASCI score on this card is only 59.9, surprised it OC's at all.

Great run, yeah the ASIC score doesn't seem to hold much weight. Those 280's are beastly cards for sure
