They do not lower your performance. With an IGPU, you always have a backup if your gpu fails.
To be honest most of the high end new CPU's have built in graphics, I would say nearly everyone in the OC leaderboards has a chip with built in graphics but most of us don't use them and just disable them. No it does not hurt performance at all.

Major G it's a fair score for that age of a card overclocked or not you will most likely see a little more then that by maybe 100pts if any
You are about 3 Generations behind of the GTX model current model 7 series so maybe you should look for the 5 or 6 series they have come down a little in pricing
Major G it's probably due to the fact you have a 1gb card
1gb cards get maxed out fast playing battlefield with decent settings take a look at how much vram is being used
If you don't want to invest in any newer card consider sli that would improve your game play 10 fold
