Yeah, i'm digging me some dying light right now. Everything maxxed out with usual framerate around 120+ and my cards aren't even scaling that well, around 70-80%. I'm at the part where you are spray painting the roof for the helicopter to see. It's my new favorite zombie game, hands down. I'm just sitting here waiting for witcher 3. Battlefield hardline will be here next month, so hopefully it will keep me satisfied until I can travel down the road of a scarred up witcher again. The graphics look insane on it as well...but neither of us are going to be hurting on eye candy and fps. I have both games pre-ordered, so I'm ready. Oh, btw, my new all day OC for my cards are 1545 core and 7742 mem. From what I understand, anything above 1400 on a 970 is equal to and/or better than a stock 980.
For a bit of fun and out of interest why don't we test that theory out. What speed would a "standard" 980 be?
I could set my 980 to that speed and you could disable one of your cards and set it to 1400MHz and we will see how the GPU scores are for both in Firestrike.
I am guessing by "stock" 980 it would be a reference design one and it looks like they boost to 1216MHz. I can downclock mine to that.
I went ahead and ran some tests my end so if you want to compare that's cool.
My GPU at stock boosts to 1341MHz so I had to downclock it by 125Mhz to get the desired 1216MHz of a reference card. I also ran a test with my card at it's stock speed for comparison.
Obviously ignore the overall score and the CPU score. All that is important in this is the GPU score.
So the score at GTX 980 Reference speed was 13249 and the score for mine at stock speed was 14254.
Over to you
I ran some tests of my own and it would seem that the 1400mhz rumor is in fact not true. It takes in actuality around 1520 on a 970 to reach stock 980 output.
My first test was at 1400, my second at 1475 and my third at 1540. I realize I knock some people off the board with my final one. I could go higher, but I ended up crashing my driver halfway through a run when I was at 1625. I'm happy where I'm at, just don't forget my G1 tag.
Not really sure if this counts because of the time measurement thing, but this was me at around 1565 I think. Right before I decided to stop playing it safe and bumping in increments of 20. I've hit 1640+ when i decided to freeze out my room, right after I got them. But I was using heaven running continuous back then.
Anyways,
Single 970 Firestrike score - 11389
