its not a laptop its a desktop

in my bios i have 2 RAM memory slots one has 256MB DDR and the other is empty
i went on the manufactures website (HP) and it says a set of instructions on how to install and wat i can install it sed 1.0GB is Recommended as the maximum |

Most likely you need DDR2 memory, which is dirt cheap...

According to this MS page: Memory Limits for Windows Releases (Windows) you can have 2 GB. Scroll down to:
"Physical Memory Limits: Windows 7 " - Starter I've been using IE8 with 1GB RAM on Vista ever since it came out. (My Windows 7 computer came with 2 GB RAM.) If it works with 1GB on Vista it should also on 7. Make sure you get all the necessary Windows Updates. |

Roncerr, according to his computers manufacturer, he can only run 1GB. It doesn't matter what the software can support if the hardware can't support it as well.

I said it should work with 1 GB; and that I'm using 1 GB on Vista. (I merely mentioned that my new computer came with 2 GB which happens to be running Win 7.) But IE8 it works fine with 1 GB. So he should upgrade from .5 to 1 GB.
