    Win 7 Forum

WOW!! Only registered two days and already months of help. The first problem I had was the Test Mode message that appeared on my desktop. I had trouble the first time but Shawn recognized my error and a second try to care of the problem. The second problem was a recurrence of one I had yesterday repeated. I could open Outlook Hotmail but could not open the emails from any folder. Instead of going back to the Win 7 forum I Googled the problem and selected what I was lead to believe was an MS help site. Long story short, the site I selected was not an MS site and even though I asked if it was the only answer I got from the tech was, "Yes, I am an MS trained technician." After identifying over 35,000 problems and 95 trojans, he finally said that he could fix them all FOR A FEE. I hung up and did contact a tech support outfit I had paid dearly for. After three or four hours, he did get rid of the problems and trojans I think the first guy installed. This morning I had the same problem with Outlook Hotmail and having learned my lesson went directly to the Win 7 Forum where I promptly found a solution to the problem. The solution was to deleted an update: KB670838. I deleted it and after rebooting, the problem was gone. I did notice one thing, IE 10 had been installed before I had the first problem with Hotmail, and I didn’t intentionally install it. After deleting the update and restarting, my browser was IE 9.

If you have problems with your email, one of the first things you should do is check the settings in your email client and compare them with the settings that can be found on your ISP/Email provider's website. Sometimes, the port numbers change, and you might need to update your settings to the current ones. If nothing has changed, and all your settings are correct according to the website, then it might possibly be an issue at their end as opposed to a problem on your machine. Try accessing your emails through the web interface instead of your email client for a while. Although the web interface will allow you to send and receive emails, it is usually only a basic interface offering limited functionality. Because of this, keep checking the client so that you can resume using it when service is restored.

Here is a link to their Microsoft Services Agreement. Section 22 gives links on how to contact for support.

Are you sure you didn't just screw up a setting messing around in your Live account settings?

By the way, this is not directed at you personally but for everyone. Please be specific and particular with details as to what your problem is, because then you're more apt to get help because then people will have a better clue as to what the problem is. People aren't mind readers...so cries for "help" should follow with details as to what the problem is what led up to it and what you were dong at the time. What programs, (versions if possible if you know - if that info is relevant to the problem), and anything else you think might help another with your problem. And if you're going to give up before another can even get started to help you then why bother calling for help? That represents my personal view and no one else here on Windows 7 forum. lol

Back to your situation, if they did cancel your email account did they give notice or warning first? If so, did they say why? Copyright violations? Inactive account use? Did they cancel your entire Live account or just email? Well if Microsoft did cancel your account or even simply just your email account, then it is beyond merely the scope of helping you adjust a setting. All I can do is advise you to contact the support links listed at the link supra.

    Any further suggestions?

I have reported my problem for quite while and have not received any helpful suggestions. I haven’t heard about anyone else with the same problem. I cannot access my PEOPLE (contacts) to select, edit, manage or even see when I am using Internet Explorer for Hotmail. I have answered several replies and most said the problem was being elevated to a higher level. I have tried to answer all the questions about the browser I us, IE, and have attached Fiddler Caps and other info when requested. Does anyone think that MS may have an answer some place? My OS is Win 7 Pro on a DELL Vostro laptop. I have 6 Gs of memory. I can access PEOPLE when using Google Chrome but I much prefer MS IE. I am pretty sure that all my programs are update frequently.
    HELP!!!

As I said earlier, I don't recall ever posting anything about MS cancelling any of my accounts. You must have replied to someone else's post. Thanks for the URl at MS.

Yes Clancy I replied to and quoted "MRZAGG" whose comment appears right before mine. I'm glad to hear that when you report a problem you provide as much relevant information as you can. I note when people don't bother to provide or rather take the time to provide the information, then why should someone else bother to try to pull teeth to get it out of them? So it's good to see you do provide information for that encourages others to help.
