Windows 8 Pro w/MC 32-bit

The link makes it seem more complicated than necessary if you're happy with the default size of the gif. In the new email (NOT photo email) just choose Insert/image/inline. It will initially show up with a green box around it which disappears as you add more text. But the gif isn't moving until you look at it in the Sent Items folder after sending. If you're doing a photo email the "inline" option is greyed out and there is no way to "insert" a gif by importing from Windows Explorer. However you can choose one of the built-in emoticons and it will still move in the draft copy before sending.

Windows Live Mail

I, too, have a problem with putting animated gifs in an e-mail (with Windows Live). And I already have my e-mail configured to send in HTML ..... so that's not the problem!! I miss my old email with Windows XP. Windows 7 is great compared to Vista! But Windows Live Mail sucks.
