    Hi Margie and welcome.

It's my understanding that animations no longer appear when composing an email but will appear when they are received. You could check this out by sending an email to yourself.

After unsticking your caps lock key, you might check the options for sending mail and make sure it's set to send in html rather than text.

Thank you marsimar I have tried sending myself an email with my gif file inserted but the animation does not appear. I love doing my emails but I am really getting frustrated with Windows Live mail. I have sorted most things out this is the only thing I am still having problems with. 'Many thanks

Did some more research and found this website. Couldn't try out the instructions because I don't use WLM.

    Welcome MARGIE!

I also have difficulty with small print on some web pages. I use the FireFox Web Browser which allows me to make just the text larger and easier to read:

GIF animation is not a function of email in the least bit. Likely, a sizable portion of your email recipients miss either the animation or the GIF entirely depending on the software they use to read your message. If you want to show someone an animated GIF file, upload it to drop.io (Simple private real-time sharing and collaboration by drop.io) and link to it as well as inlining it. Inline HTML mail attachments are not universally supported and as such many of your recipients are probably missing the joke and think you're daft.
