cannot find outlook express - windows 7

I cannot find outlook express on my new HP laptop with windows 7...is it called something else? do I need to download windows essentials as an alternative?

the reason I ask is that I could not link my ISP webmail to outlook express on my computer because it was not there.

when I did try to connect to my ISP webmail it said could not find web address ( it is there and working ) and said the connection would not have encryption ( bad! ) so I cancelled the create profile sequence and am looking for alternatives....

Outlook Express died with XP (not quite, but nearly).
    Windows 7 doesn't include a email program.
Most users will download and use Windows Live Mail

Another favorite option is Mozilla Thunderbird

Outlook Express is old and no longer supported by Microsoft. Use Windows Live Mail, download it here.

Windows 7 technically does have a email client called Windows Mail, it isn't seen if show hidden files / folders and system files etc isn't selected, however, it isn't functionable. Meaning, if you try running it, it doesn't do anything.

By the looks of things, Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows Mail.
There is a method that involves replacing the current (Windows 7) Windows Mail with Windows Mail from Windows Vista.

PM me if you would like a copy of my .pdf tutorial. I have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions in the one .pdf file with the links to download the email clients, if you don't have access to a Windows Vista install.

There are alot of links on the internet explaining how to do this. If you are a x64 bit user the files they supply won't work, why? because they are 32 bit.

Here is a tutorial on this fourm:
    Windows Mail
However I should point out that the author (as well as myself) after using Windows Mail on Win 7 for a while have decided to stick with Windows Live Mail instead.
