In google chrome all I get is an offer to go to a cached page
In IE 8 it shows the "diagnose connection" page.
I have also lost my Harley Davidson forum page
    This sucks.

Try disabling any antivirus or firewall software and see if it helps.

If I did, indeed, accidently block these sites, where would I look to unblock them?

One question that has not been asked - how do you access the NET is this via your own connection, is it through a router, is the connection/router just for you or a shared system (condo, school, business, Etc).

there are ways of filtering the net that can be added to the router or even on the net side of the router.

we need to eliminate these before we can proceed to check the local settings

I am using a router and a laptop. It is in my home for my personal use only.
