I was told that this forum was associated with Microsoft so my bad. The conversation is going on there too. Fair enough..
My congrats on making a nice forum that looks like they made it.. Good job!

I can show hundreds of forums postings talking about the Windows live issue, so its real. Its hit and miss on which ones work. I do Tech Support for a Telecom company and hear it a lot. But preaching to the choir here for some. I'll beat on Microsoft about it. I love Windows 7 but it has issues....
That's OK an easy mistake, I know that the new version of Windows Live Mail has some issues but for some they are not that bad and just like all things something that can be overcome.

With any new technology there are bound to be glitches that have to be ironed out, nothing in this world is perfect.

If you do come across a solution please feel free to post it here so we can all benefit. :)

Please give some links to these discussions. I mean to discussions where the subject is discussed and issue remains also after that OP has learned that on Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail rules do not apply on IMAP accounts.

As I mentioned earlier, you need a POP mail account to use rules. On IMAP accounts you need to use your mail services web interface to sort (create rules), Windows Live Mail or other email client then synchronizes the folder structure showing messages on the folders where you sorted them on web interface of your mail service.

If you want to use rules with IMAP account you need for instance Outlook 2010 which can handle IMAP rules.

Although old page, this still is IMO one of the best explanations on difference between IMAP and POP mail: What is the Difference between POP and IMAP Mail Server?

I'm using three computers daily, all having Windows Live Mail which I use for my Hotmail / Live / MSN addresses. These emails are set up to use POP3 instead of IMAP and leave a message to server for 30 days, so I can be sure that all three Live Mail clients stay in sync. All using the same set of rules, never had an issue.

Why do the message rules stop working?

Please! Does anyone have a solution to this! it's so frustrating. this has happened over and over again on all my computers. The Message rules just stop working at random. Is there any way to fix this ? I've searched all over the internet and this is a common problem. Is it just a bug we have to live with? hmmmm another microsoft mystery!
